BRAND NEW COMMUNICON FILM TRAILER

Hello my blueberries! Some wonderful people shot a bunch of footage at CommuniCon, and are putting together a documentary/short film, titled Intro to Communal Conventions. The film will be out in early May. In the meantime, we’ve been blessed with a trailer to tide us over.

This trailer is shot and edited by the fantastic Damien Barriga (@DamienBarriga), whom you may remember from such times as the awesome CommuniCon 2013 Intro video that was released on Tuesday. Thank you, Damien!

Hi everyone! So, I was really hoping to avoid this, but CommuniCon ended up costing me quite a bit of money, even after I applied the money from tickets and merchandise. I fronted all the costs myself, and was really hoping to break even, but that didn’t happen. I intentionally kept the ticket cost as low as possible, because I didn’t want anyone to miss out because of money. Unfortunately, while the ticket money covered the facility costs, I underestimated the costs of things beyond the facility itself (like sound equipment rental), overestimated the amount of interest in merchandise, and had no idea certain other costs would even exist (like event liability insurance).

So, I’m asking for a little help to try to break even (or at least come closer). If any of you that attended CommuniCon think it was worth more than the $25 admission cost, and have some extra dollars, that’d be really great. And if any of you who didn’t attend have some extra dollars and don’t mind parting with them to help put me in a better position to plan next year’s, that would be really greater!

Attention Greendale Community College: A wonderful Human Being has agreed to look into organizing a paintball outing during the weekend of CommuniCon. This is separate from CommuniCon; I’m just helping to spread the word. If you’d be interested in paintball on either Friday or Sunday afternoon/evening of that weekend (Feb. 8 or Feb. 10), please email afistfulofcommunies (a) gmail (dot) com no later than this Wednesday, Jan. 30th.

In your email, please include the number of people, whether you’d be available Friday, Feb. 8 or Sunday, Feb. 10, and whether you’d be able and willing to drive yourself and/or others.

Please note that this is not a guarantee paintball will happen. It will depend on the number of people interested, availability of the facility, etc…

Emails to people on the wait list that got spots have gone out. If you still haven't heard, don't lose hope. We may be able to release more.
